The EVAC Galaxies Observing Program

Galaxies are the fundamental building blocks of the universe. A galaxy may consist of thousands of star clusters, and billions of stars... but this observing program is limited to a mere 113 galaxies, located in 16 constellations. This is an excellent Spring and Early Summer Observing Program. The observing group consists of the following:

Abv: Constellation: Objects:     Abv: Constellation: Objects:

Boo Bootes   2     Lib Libra   1
Cam Camelopardalis 2     Lmi Leo Minor 2
Cnc Cancer   1     Lyn Lynx   2
Com Coma Berenices 20     Oph Ophinchus 1
Crt Crater   1     Ser Serpens Caput 1
Cvn Canes Venatici 9     Sex Sextans   1
Dra Draco   5     Uma Ursa Major (Big Dipper) 24
Leo Leo   8     Vir Virgo   33

All objects were viewed with the Meade LX200 (8"), using a DSI-II camera, capturing images of each object. You can see the images by clicking on this LINK. The displayed images are thumbnails (small versions of the actual image). You can see the larger version, by clicking on the thumbnail.

My observations began on May 7, 2010, and were completed on June 14, 2010.

The observations log can be seen here.

The visual viewing Magnification is OTA focal length / Eyepiece Size = 2000/26 = 77.

The image viewing Magnification is OTA focal length / CCD Diagonal or 2000/8.3 = 241.

The photo(s) field of view is 8 x 10 arc min.             See The Images Here:
