The EVAC Globular Cluster Observing Program The Peterson Stars and Planets Field Guide defines a globular cluster as "a spherical grouping of stars of a common origin; globular clusters and the stars in them are very old." For many amateurs, globular clusters represent some of the most visually appealing deep sky objects. This observing program, based on a list compiled by EVAC member Joe Goss, contains a total of 50 gems. The table below includes name, constellation and visual magnitude. This observing program spans 19 Constellations as outlined below.
All objects were viewed with the Meade LX200 (8"), using a DSI-II camera, capturing images of each object. You can see the images by clicking on this LINK. The displayed images are thumbnails (small versions of the actual image). You can see the larger version, by clicking on the thumbnail. My observations began on June 15, 2009 at Picket Post in Superior, AZ. The observation project was completed on Sept 3, 2010 in Camas Valley, Oregon. The viewing log can be seen here. The visual viewing Magnification is OTA focal length / Eye Piece Size or 2000/26 = 77. The viewing Image Magnification is OTA focal length / CCD Diagonal or 2000/8.3 = 241. The photo(s) field of view is 8 x 10 arc min. See The Images Here:
